ABOUT HELPING THE HOMELESS COLORADO SCHOLARSHIPS
Helping the Homeless Scholarship Awards Program is designed to highlight the incredible potential of Colorado’s young people as well as the challenges which prevent too many of them from succeeding. Helping the Homeless Colorado awards multiple, $1,000 scholarships to college-bound, Colorado public high school seniors who have shown incredible performance in high school by succeeding in school despite daunting obstacles. Our program also supports individuals who are seeking to attain a higher level of education.
The committee will be looking for individuals who have excelled and shown their willingness to put in hard work considering their circumstances. If you are selected you will be notified and you may be asked to come in for an interview. If you are not selected you will be notified as well.
Students should have:
- 1) A minimum unweighted GPA of 2.0
- 2) Have succeeded in spite of hardships such as poverty or homelessness
- 3) Have participated in activities that are helpful to others.
- 4) Financial need must be demonstrated as well. For more information or to apply, please visit the scholarship provider's website.
Applicants will be asked to write multiple essays, provide a minimum of 3 letters of recommendation, provide their official high school transcript, and proof of their household income.
Please note: Your endorsers will be contacted personally along with your school. Please make sure all of the information you provide is correct. Applications with incorrect information will be removed from the process. There are no exceptions unless notified by Helping the Homeless Colorado.

We will also ask you to write your personal statement. This personal statement is your opportunity to show our selection committee who you are and what you are about. This is your chance to show why you deserve this scholarship. Your essay should: Have a minimum of 500 words, but no more than 2,500 words. Address the role that education has played in helping you overcome hardships such as poverty, disability, homelessness or personal tragedy. Explain your future educational and career goals. Elaborate about any volunteer work, community service, and extracurricular activities that you are involved in and why they are important. Reflect on your personality and include anything that you would like us to know.
