Helping the Homeless Colorado has partnered with PERIOD. because of the high demand for feminine hygiene products in the homeless community. Through our partnership our organization is able to receive unlimited amount of feminine hygiene products for the thousands of homeless individuals who need them. In addition, Helping the Homeless Colorado joins in the movement with PERIOD to make sure that economic hindrances do not impede the ability for a woman to have access to hygiene products.
We are a group of young activists across the U.S. united by the belief that menstrual care is a basic right. Nadya Okamoto and Vincent Forand co-founded PERIOD as high school students in 2014 after realizing that menstrual products are not reliably available to those who need them the most. PERIOD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Now we have a nationwide network of over 300 chapters who are serving their communities.
Helping the Homeless Colorado has partnered with Redefy in order to help distribute our article series to more people across the nation. Our organization values the importance of people being educated about the causes of homelesness and for people to learn about the unique stories that exist. Redefy, which focuses on challenging stereotypes of all kinds, has helped for the stories of homeless individuals across the state be heard across the nation.
Founded in 2013 by Ziad Ahmed, Redefy is an international, social justice 501(c)3 non-profit organization run entirely by teens. We strive to promote acceptance, defy stereotypes, and defeat hate through sharing stories of discrimination, injustice, and struggle on our website and social media; providing resources to schools across the U.S. and around the world and conducting workshops in schools to prevent the development of hateful ideas before they solidify; generating discussion of pertinent social justice issues through our chapters located across the country and around the globe. At the heart of our mission is the belief that all hate stems from ignorance and that, through conversation and education, acceptance will prevail.
